Lesson Purpose:
This course is different from all other report writing courses, because it is taught from a defense attorney’s perspective. As a result, you will learn how to lay a firm foundation for your testimony under cross examination and effectively communicate your story.
Training Objectives:
At the end of this block of instruction, the student will be able to achieve the following objectives:
- Understand and appreciate the significance of a well written report in a criminal proceeding.
- Become familiar with the essential components of a well-written report.
- Understand the legal mandates of Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963) and its progeny and how to incorporate them into every day report writing.
- Identify the presence or absence of the essential components of effective report writing within several police reports.
